The well known Opencast Mining company Celtic Energy have been granted permission to extend the notorious Selar Opencast site. The new application was  for an area they call Selar North.

FoE Group Condemns Opencast Destruction of wildlife site.

This will involve the obliteration of large quantities of valuable traditional Welsh grassland habitat which is full of wildlife and of areas of Ancient Woodland.

Celtic Energy previously obliterated the Selar  SSSI. where they had a less than perfect record in moving and looking after the wildlife.
