The article headlined Is green power proving costly? (Post, May 13) repeats unchallenged a silly myth about wind turbines, namely that they are noisy.
This simply is not true. Last weekend we had our national conference in Mid Wales and as part of this visited a local wind farm. On arriving right beneath a turbine, we had to wait for the cooling fan on the vehicle to stop before we could hear the turbines.
We proceeded to enjoy a lovely picnic underneath the turbine blades, whose gentle whooshing was drowned out by the sound of conversation.
The suggestion that they are excessively noisy is just propaganda.
Climate change is the most serious problem facing humanity. The latest figures indicate that carbon dioxide, the chief greenhouse gas, is accumulating in the atmosphere even faster than had been thought. We must stop burning coal and oil, and look to alternative sources of energy.
