David Bellamy a former environmental hero turned climate change denier. Claimed in an infamous letter to New Scientist magazine that the world's glaciers were growing. This was exposed in the Gaurdian newspaper as false by George Monbiot journalist, science graduate and fellow of Oxford University.
Bellamy's ultimate source for this dodgy claim was one Lyndon Larouche an eccentric American activist who is a convicted fraudster. He has accused the Queen of running an international drugs cartel and in 1999 his spokesperson announced said the following as part of a statement, “ After consulting with security experts familiar with the modus operandi of British intelligence networks, we are treating the piece as a cover for an MI6 order, probably with direct backing from someone in the royal household, to assassinate Lyndon LaRouche “ This was in response to the magazine “Take a Break “ publishing an article about him.
Overall it would be hard to avoid the conclusion that Bellamy did not exercise good judgement in choosing his data and that he should have looked harder into the background of his sources.
This is unfortunately a common trait of climate change deniers and occurs frequently.
